Energy & matchmaking

A match costs one energy, and matchmaking pairs equal stakes first and similar ping second.

Energy#

A match costs 1 energy. Each UTC day everyone starts with 10, restored at 00:00 UTC. Energy is computed by the server from server time, so changing your device clock does nothing. It is spent when a match actually starts, so leaving the queue never costs energy.

Surplus after resetA bought surplus is kept until spent; the next reset only ever raises you to 10.

Bought energy is paid by burning tokens, never by sending them to anyone.

Matchmaking#

Two rules, in order of importance: 1) stakes must be equal, always, so the pot is symmetric; 2) ping should be close, relaxed the longer you wait so the queue never starves.

any80300 ms ±30 ms ±80 ms ANYONE IN THE TIER 0 s5 s15 swaiting → allowed RTT gap between two queued players
The gap is the difference of the two players' round-trip times; each player's own wait time widens the window.
  • Each connection can sit in one queue entry only, in one tier.
  • Solvency is checked before you queue: on-chain token balance and escrow allowance. A wallet that cannot cover the stake never enters the queue.
  • When both stakes are locked, the match starts; if locking fails the players are returned and nothing is taken.
RobinHead Ball is a game of skill. Staking tokens carries risk — never stake more than you can afford to lose. You are responsible for complying with the regulations in your jurisdiction.
